Race: Time Lord / Gallifreyan

Special Abilities: Regeneration, psychic abilities, an advanced knowledge of the universe, advanced resistances to toxins, poisons and over all damage, hypnosis, the ability to see time flowing, ability to sense the shift of a planet, sense of time, lightning mastery, ability to jump great heights and land without dying from fall damage.

Sexuality: Bi-sexual / Complicated. Sometimes you'd swear he was straight, other times you wouldn't be entirely sure and neither is he, nor does he care.

Fandom: Doctor Who
Point in Canon: End of "The End of Time" when he disappears into the Time Lock with the other Time Lords.

Brief History (or wiki link): 'Just one little peek into the Schism and you will be on your way to becoming an all powerful Time Lord!...' The Untempered Schism.

That's where it all started... Koschei, as he was known then, was but a child of 8 years old when he was taken for his initiation into the Time Lord Academy. There he was made to look into a gap in time and space which was known as the Untempered Schism, a glimpse into the very heart of the vortex. While others ran away or became inspired by what they saw, Koschei went mad. The sound of drums... That sound would haunt him through the rest of his years. Those visions, that great void in space would forever gnaw at his mind, in dreams and in his waking thoughts. Little did he know then, who had planted that constant sound, or why...

He grew up in Gallifrey and trained at the Academy with The Doctor. They were friends growing up, and both, rather different people. During his child hood, Koschei and the Doctor, then known as Theta Sigma, used to play in the fields near Koschei's home. when they weren't studying, they were usually off getting into some form of trouble. With The Doctor, he had a friend at least. Unlike at the academy where he was picked on rather ruthlessly. Particularly by one bully named Torvic. The Doctor killed the bully in order to save The Masters life. It is not stated in canon whether or not the bully regenerated or not.

It was at the Academy where the Master and The Doctor would eventually fall out with one another too. They had travelled back in time together to look for Valdemar. What they found fascinated The Master and scared The Doctor. The little differences made them grow further and further apart. A broken promise was the last of it...

Since his education, the Doctor and The Master grew apart from one another. The Rani, then known as Ushas, was a part of their old circle of friends at the Academy.
When The Doctor ran away from his home world, The Master was recruited to find him and essentially, bring him back. Little did the Master know that the person who had been recruited to join him was none other than a spy by the name of Ailla. She had been brought in to confirm suspicions the Time Lords Council had about The Koschei. He eventually caught up with the Doctor in the 28th century at the Darkheart colony. There, lay the Darkheart device... the temptation that would sadly allow Koschei to fall for. Ailla, his "companion" showed her true colours and the last of Koschei's kindness drained away into the abyss. The Doctor thwarted his attempt to take the Darkheart and trapped him in a black hole. It was there that he shook of the shackles of his birth name and took on the title of The Maser, vowing his revenge on The Doctor.

Throughout history, The Master has attempted to get his revenge against The Doctor. And time and time again he failed in his advances. Plan after plan, ideas gone to waste. And every time, The Doctor managed to save the day. The Master's loathing and envy grew more and more with each passing year. Regeneration after regeneration... and they were rapidly running out. His last regeneration, so close to death, saw him living his days in a dying husk of a body, rotting into decay. He tried his best to gain control over The Eye of Harmony so that he might be able to regenerate again, but The Doctor stopped him. This lead to anew plan... He went on to possession, taking over the body of Tremus.

With his new body, he was ready to try again. Next stop, Logopolis. There, he would kill the Logopolitans and stop the calculations for the CVE's (Charged Vacuum Emboitment), unfortunately building up Entropy. The world started to crumble and dissolve into nothing, and the final death of the universe began. The Master fled the planet with the Doctor and his companion, in The Masters TARDIS, where they left spacetime. There they tried to control and stop parts of the universe disappearing, thanks to The Masters actions. They eventually manage to stabilize the collapse. The Master turns against the Doctor, holding him at "gunpoint" with a Tissue Decompression Eliminator. His lust for power leads him to transmitting a message asking that the universe accept his rule over them or he will restart the CVE's collapse. The Doctor manages to thwart his plan by stopping the message but sadly falls to his death, leading to another regeneration. The Master escapes.

The Master was eventually captured again and sent to the planet Skaro where he would be held to trial and execution. The Master managed to escape into a new body and went back to seeking revenge on The Doctor, only to end up being thrown into the Eye of Harmony by The Doctor's eight incarnation.

He should have been dead and gone. But the Time Lords thought differently, bringing him back with a job in mind. He was to guard and protect the Cruciform. By doing this important task, he would be serving his people once more. However he was not prepared for the events that would lead to his desertion of his station. The Master did not think the Dalek Emperor himself would show up in attempt to take the Cruciform. No one in their right mind should have! The Cruciform was taken by The Dalek Emperor and out of fear, The Master ran as far as he could, to the very edge of the universe where he would use a Chameleon Arch to turn himself human, leaving his true genetic imprint within an old pocket watch.

He had a new persona. A new name, a new life and just one beating heart. But the drums... that sound of drums, never ceased. His new name was Yana, and he had given himself the title of Professor. Yana distinctly remembers being found as naked youth, washed up on the shores of the Silver Devastation. He couldn't remember anything before that point in his life. He lived his life moving from camp to camp, learning everything he could in order to advance their society. His travels lead him to the Utopia project where he joined in order to help with his ideas, and amazing intellect.

But the arrival of the Doctor changed everything. This strange, strange man, who showed up out of nowhere. He came out of the blue and started to fix things, making the project all the more possible! But how did he do it? While working on the project, he overheard Martha and Jack talking about the Time Lords. The voices started in his mind, luring him to taking the watch out, opening it. His energy flowed back into him and he remembered who he was. The Master. Not just a human, but a Time Lord. He attempts to kill Chantho and as a result, she shoots him before dying. The Master climbed into the TARDIS and regenerated into a new, younger body.

He used the TARDIS to travel back to Earth to the 2000's where he started work on his new plan. His new alias? Harold Saxon. Under his new persona he released a book and married, appearing to settle. He made new waves across the planet, setting up the Archangel Network, and running for British Prime Minister. The Archangel Network was the most important part of his plan. The Network was set up, connected to everyones mobile phones, to transmit a coded psychic signal around the planet generating a background telepathic field. With this he could use it to send subliminal commands. Such as.... Vote Saxon? And luck would have it, he won the election. With his wife by his side, he took the seat of power over the United Kingdom.

The Master had also taken the time to do a little traveling. He journeyed to Utopia where Humanity had flown to, all those years into the future, from the edge of the universe, and found what had truly become of them. He manipulated and tricked their child like minds into trusting him, and named them the Toclafane, a name taken from Gallifreyan tales. They would serve their purpose all in due time.

With the Toclafane ready for action, Harold Saxon announced to the world that he personally had made contact with an extra-terrestrial life form, and would publicly broadcast their arrival to Earth, welcoming them to the Human race. Now was the time for all of his hard work to pay off. The Doctor had arrived on the planet, everything was set up just right. Nothing could go wrong.
While the Doctor thought he had fooled the Master using a perception filter, The Master had paying close attention to him. Every moment The Doctor and his companions were nearby using the filter, he feigned not noticing them. Right up to the point of the broadcast, aboard the Valiant. The Doctor and Jack were arrested and the American President was killed by the Toclafane on life television. Martha, along with her Mother and Sister were arrested soon after and brought on board the Valiant. The Master was full of life and nothing could stop him. Using his laser screwdriver, he aged The Doctor dramatically and kept him around in captive as a pet. Martha made her escape after the Doctor whispered an instruction to her, by teleporting out with Jack's Vortex Manipulator.

Then came the year that never was. The Master ordered the Toclafane to eliminate one tenth of the worlds population, and through the Paradox machine, the Toclafane came in waves by the million, slaughtering humans by seemingly random selection. The Master kept Jack in a separate room so that he could be killed over and over again. Marthas Mother and sister were put to work in maids outfits, and the Doctor was housed like a pet dog with straw on the floor, underneath a cloth tent. The Master was enjoying their suffering too much, and all the while, Lucy Saxon, his faithful wife, stood and watched him, never questioning him once.

The Master put further things into motion, setting up shipyards to create large rockets from scrap. Thousands of ships, covering mass amounts of land cropped up over that year. Travel became severely restricted for those still alive on the planet, and the human race lived in fear. He had planned to take his Time Lord empire further and into the stars.

Martha was eventually caught and brought back to the Valiant. She revealed the plan to The Master, what she had been doing the whole time she had traveled the Earth, just as the clock was counting down. His plan had been ruined. The Doctor was restored back to his old self, thanks to the very thing the Master had created. The Archangel Network. Afraid to the point of paralysis, the Master curled up against a wall. The Doctor whispered the words he had feared the most from him. I forgive you.

Jack was given the order to destroy the Paradox machine, by thw Doctor, and took off with the help of some of the guards. The Master, using the Vortex Manipulator taken from Martha, teleported himself and The Doctor back down to the surface, on a ledge above one of the large shipping docks. There, The Master threated to detonate them all, killing everyone. The Doctor reminded The Master that he could never kill himself, calling his bluff. And with that The Doctor teleported them both back on board the Valiant. Jack destroyed the Paradox machine the moment they arrived, and the Masters grand plan lay in ruins.

Time reset itself back to just after the President was killed and everything returned to normal.
The Master had to get away... so he ran. Unfortunately, he ran right into Jack who was waiting at the door. The Doctor claimed he would take responsibility for The Master, keeping him on board the TARDIS. The Master laughed... Spending an eternity with The Doctor?! Not a chance. Francine stepped forward, holding a gun, pointing it at the Master. She was stopped but instead, Lucy Saxon shot him. He refused to regenerate at died in the Doctors arms. His body was laced on a funeral pyre and he was burnt. However, his ring was picked up by one of the Cult of Saxon and taken so that he could be resurrected.

Lucy was brought in so that his DNA could be taken from her lips. The Master was resurrected, taking the lives of the cultists in the process. Before the process finished, Lucy threw a potion in to stop him coming back to life but it failed. It caused an explosion and she lost her life. The Master was reborn but he wasn't right. However he did gain a few abilities, like the ability to jump incredible heights and channel electricity as a powerful weapon.

His hunger was new too, and so he went about draining hobos of their life force and eating any food he could find just to take away his constant hunger.

The Doctor tracked the Master down to an old junkyard where he remained hidden from view. The Master tried to taunt him out by beating an old metal drum sixteen times, each in groups of four beats. The Master lead him out with a chase before taking off, ignoring the Doctors pleas. They met soon after. That's when the Doctor found out the drums were real, but the Master was sedated and taken away to the Naismith Estate. He was brought in to help fix the immortality gate, a piece of technology acquired from Torchwood. He fixes it and decides to use it for his own gain, trapping the Doctor and Wilf, and using the machine to turn everyone on the planet into himself. The Master race.

However his plan fails when the Time Lords make their appearance and Rassilon undoes the Master's changes to Earth. The Master finds out who really placed the drums in his mind, and enraged, he pushes the Time Lords back, and locks them back into the Time Lock. Unfortunately, he too ends up stuck with them. Lost forever... or was he?

Brief Personality: The Master is a complicated man. Similar to The Doctor in a lot of ways, but almost his polar opposite, The Master bears all the curiosities and complexities of a Time Lord and more. He's incredibly intelligent, but egotistical. Aggressive to the point of sociopathic, and insane to the point of psychopathic. His personality is made of extremes as opposed to any subtlelties, save perhaps for his fears which are only revealed to certain people. The side that he does show of himself is intense and hard to ignore and that's just the way he wants it.

He is a very expressive man, creative and witty, but very careless, not just in regards to how he sees other people, but how he treats the works of others. He likes to show off and make a scene, anything to get attention, especially from The Doctor. Unlike the Doctors drive to do good, The Master's drive is destructive. There's a constant craving for dominance which he is constantly trying to feed, leading him to chaotic acts of violence, and mass manipulation. People are nothing more than tools to him, if he can find a use for them. They are simply there to make sure he gets what he wants. He's the kind of man who likes to work on the weaknesses of a situation or a person first before striking, especially with the Doctor.
